Jennifer Kavanagh gave an insightful presentation on RugbyConnect, the all-in-one platform for Irish rugby that operates on the SportLoMo system. RugbyConnect manages everything from player registrations, events, and match and referee management to player history and club data, serving as the backbone for all domestic rugby operations in Ireland.

Seamus Kyne, CEO of SportLoMo, provided an overview of the company’s mission and international reach, emphasizing its 100% focus on sport. He highlighted SportLoMo’s commitment to ongoing product development, with new features and enhancements being released on a monthly basis in close partnership with its sporting clients.

The summit, which spotlighted innovation, digital transformation, and the role of technology in Irish sport, was well attended and offered a glimpse into the future of the sports industry. Three world-leading experts delivered keynote presentations, including:

  • Finbarr Kirwan, Senior Vice President and Chief of Olympic Sport at the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC)
  • Patrick Lucey, Chief Scientist at Stats Perform
  • Ali Donnelly, CEO of More than Equal, an organization working to find the first female Formula 1 World Champion

New Digital Catalyst Fund Announced

In addition to the presentations, Sport Ireland announced a significant new initiative: the launch of the Digital Catalyst Fund. This fund aims to support small to medium-sized digital transformation projects within Irish sports organizations, focusing on improvements in administration, data management, and service delivery. The fund is open to NGBs, Local Sports Partnerships and Sport Ireland-funded bodies, with the application deadline set for November 11th. Full guidelines and the application form can be accessed here.

The Summit 2024 also provided an excellent opportunity for networking, bringing together National Governing Bodies (NGBs) and leading technology providers. Attendees were given time to exchange ideas, explore collaboration opportunities, and discuss how technology can drive the future of sport in Ireland.

This annual event, hosted by Sport Ireland, is instrumental in building valuable relationships between leaders in the sports and tech industries and is highly respected within the Irish sporting community.
