Swimming Canada supports a vibrant community of over 75,000 competitive swimmers, along with numerous coaches, officials and volunteers across approximately 450 clubs nationwide.  The organization supports swimmers from grassroots to elite international athletes and is recognized as a global leader in high-performance swimming within both Olympic and Paralympic programs.

Swimming Canada has been making significant strides with the transition to its new Registration and Event Management System (REMS), which was officially launched in September 2024.

Powered by the SportLoMo platform, Registration & Event Management System (REMS) is designed to replace the previous RTR platform (Registration, Tracking and Results), which was permanently shut down on August 13, 2024. Clubs and administrators were required to complete all data updates in RTR before migrating to SportLoMo.

Since its launch, REMS has facilitated the registration of over 68,000 individuals. As part of the transition, historical data for coaches was imported from the RTR platform to ensure continuity, linking credentials, background checks, and other information directly to member profiles within the new system.

Alberta Summer Swimming Association Pilot Program

In anticipation of the full national rollout, a pilot program involving the Alberta Summer Swimming Association (ASSA) started in April 2024 on SportLoMo. This trial involved over 60 clubs, 3,000+ swimmers, and 300+ coaches.  The pilot program was instigated to understand Swimming Canada’s process and smooth out any issues that may arise on full launch for the rest of the country.

Registration System Information Portal

To support the swimming community through this significant change, Swimming Canada has maintained active engagement by providing regular updates via a Dedicated Portal (registration system information portal). SportLoMo and Swimming have also offered club orientation sessions, hosted open Q&A forums, and shared progress updates to keep all stakeholders informed.

Online forms have been introduced to collect feedback on ways to improve the transition, better support the swimming community’s adaptation to REMS and enhance communication throughout the process. These forms also gather valuable input on how the system can continue to be refined and optimized moving forward.

SportLoMo continues to work closely with Swimming Canada to help make the transition to the new platform as smooth as possible for everyone involved.  This transition represents a significant change for the swimming community as they adapt to the completely new REMS system.  As the Member Registration phase nears completion, focus will soon shift to Swim Meet Entry, scheduled to commence in December/January.
